What is/are Cefpodoxime Tablets?

CEFPODOXIME is a cephalosporin antibiotic. This medicine is used to treat respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, and skin infections. It will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take with food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Take all of your medicine as directed even if you think you are better. Do not skip doses or stop your medicine early.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

What may interact with this medicine?

antacids diuretics medicines for stomach acid or ulcer like cimetidine, famotidine, lansoprazole, nizatidine, omeprazole, ranitidine probenecid sodium bicarbonate

diarrhea dizzy, drowsy dry mouth headache joint or muscle pain stomach upset, gas trouble sleeping vomiting

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep container closed tightly. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

  • The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
